The Snowsport England courses are held in Austria and last 10 consecutive days.
The unique aspect of Snowsport England lies in the fact that we offer courses for ski instructors with a German language course bolted on, and guaranteed job at the end of it. Our courses are delivered by top tier Instructors, qualified to ‘Staatliche’ level, this is the highest attainable ski instructor certification in Austria. The instructors also belong to the largest ski instructor union in Austria.
We are going to help you find a nice job in the mountains for the winter. When you complete your Anwärter course with (us) Snowsport England, you will be able to start working as a ski instructor immediately. The added benefit of doing your qualifications with us, is that we will put you in touch with some of the nicest ski schools in the Tyrolean Alps. We have worked very hard on building relationships, and built a network of trust, which means that you get the inside track to success and the job of your dreams.
Purpose of the training
It’s fast track, its intense and its a mountain of new information, but at the end of our superb 10 day course you will be equipped with the tools you need to do the job, you will be a ski instructor. It is nine hardcore days of theory and practical learning, and one day of exams, which makes up the full 10 days to complete the course and obtain your Anwärter Ski Instructor Licence. This means that you will be qualified to teach in the mountains, on the snow, on the slopes.
The theory seminars will take place, early evening every day after skiing. The theory elements include: understanding movement and dynamics, teaching knowledge, equipment and material, child protection, first aid, professional conduct, nature and the environment, introduction into the trends in winter sports, tourism, mountain awareness.
The practical element, as you would imagine is skiing during the days, where you will be shown how to ski like an instructor, and how to give the relevant demonstrations for teaching purposes. So you can show beginners how to ski.
This demonstration element is called “Schulefahren”. You will learn the methodical structure of, how we teach. These are the tools you will be expected to use in the real world when you are out there on the slopes with the people. The foundation element is naturally teaching beginners. When it comes to the exam, you will be judged on your ability to teach, as well as your ability to follow the recognised methodical approach of the Austrian teaching system.
Knowing what to teach, and being able to share it are two of the key elements of success when it comes to instructing.
In addition you will have an introduction into the correct handling of a snowboard, so you can inform people. As a result you will also get the chance to stand on a snowboard for a short while.
Once you have completed the course and exams with satisfactory scores, in both the Theory and Practical elements, you will receive the Ski Instructor Anwärter Diploma. With this under your belt, you can begin life working in the snowy mountains, and all Austrian ski schools will recognise you as a qualified ski instructor now. Dream job.
